Welcome to the Newbie Training Arena! This event is going to be a year ‘round event available for new players!

Are you a new or returning player looking to get into the breed? Perfect! You've chosen the right place to start!

Please Note

New Players - Established as recently joined players (Joined in the last 3 months), or owning less than 5 Nordanners.
Returning Players - Have been out of the breed, or off dArt for 3+ years and have returned within the last 3 months.
New and returning players may enter by replying to THIS comment–please request what 3 horses you would like to have and a mod will roll you one of the 3 selected horses (if they are available by the time you are rolled) and post your end date.

Once you are assigned a horse, you are to complete 10 or more of the below training prompts by drawing or writing about your assigned horse doing it within 2 months [60 days] of being assigned your horse!

Rules for the Event!
  • This event is for NEW PLAYERS and RETURNING PLAYERS only. We will check your Nordanner status prior to assigning you your yearling and giving you your end date.
  • No throwing fits about which yearling you have been assigned, you selected your top three, RNG did the rest.
  • Each image MUST be made for this event and made by the user assigned the horse. 
    • Images must have a background and show at least 50% of the horse.
    • Pay2use and reused lineart are not allowed for this event. 
  • All Images and writing prompts MUST feature your assigned Nordanner Yearling as the main character.
  • Writing entries are an option and MUST be at least 500 words per prompt.
    • Writing entries can be all on the same document, but must have at least 500 words per prompt, and clearly separate the prompts in some way.
  • All tack related prompts MUST feature tack, at minimum the article of tack that is in the prompt (i.e; Saddles, Bit, Dragon Tack, Blankets, etc) A handler is not required, but is encouraged!
  • All artwork and writing must match the prompt it is about.
  • To complete the challenge, you must have at least ten prompts of your assigned yearling completed before the end date!
  • If you do not complete the challenge before your given end date, that yearling will be made available again for the next user.
    • You may request an extension if needed! But be aware that we will not grant unlimited extensions, you will get one extension, and that's it! 
  • You may only bring home one yearling.
So what’s the rewards?
When you've completed at least 10 prompts, your yearling gets to come home with you!
  • They function as special starters with the same rules as retired Generals, and may NOT be sold for any form of currency nor can they be deceased. For more information on how retired Generals work and the rules associated with them, check out the Royals and Queen's Generals page.

Once you have completed the challenge, you can register your shiny new Nordanner, and change their name if so desired!
  • You can also now create your Kaaring Plaque and learn more about Counting Kaaring using our Kaaring Values.
  • Each piece you completed of your horse earns you an additional +1 Kaaring points for participating in this event as well - meaning your new Nordanner could well be on the way to earning some snazzy rewards!

Completing all 25 prompts with your yearling gets you placed into a RNG roll where you could win a Breedable Potion or other goodies!
  • All 25 prompts must be completed within 90 days of receiving your assigned yearling for the challenge.
  • All 25 prompts may be completed after you've been assigned ownership of the horse, so long as it is within the 90 day timeframe.
