Kaaring Values
Kaaring points are earned to gain reputation, GC, additional prizes, and the recognition of the Queen herself!
Rules:
We moved over to this new system officially for the group as of December 1, 2023!
- Art made by yourself or others counts for the same points.
- No premade lineart or re-using old lineart, EXCEPT for registration images, which may be a reusable base.
- Import and foal designs cannot be counted towards kaaring since they are made with a reused base. The same goes for registration images which have a reused base.
- Backgrounds may not be a photo, art stock, AI generated, game-generated, or reused more than once to count for points (there is an exception for 3D-modeled backgrounds, see below).
- In order to count for kaaring for complex backgrounds, background elements also must not be AI generated, game-generated, a stamp, or reused more than once.
- Stat, XP, Kaaring sheets and grids are accepted, however the file must be a size where we can easily zoom in to each image, and can easily identify the horse. (i.e the markings are clear and match the design).
- Each image only counts once for points!

"Base Value"
- “Base Value” refers to what the horse itself is worth in the image. When calculating what your image is worth, you should always start with what the horse itself is worth, then add on or “stack” points from there based on other things present in the image.
- If you count wrong, don’t worry! Kaaring admins will correct these values for you when reviewing your images.
Registration Image: Full Value
Uncolored Art: half of normal value. Minimum of 0.5
- What your registration image is worth will depend on the elements which make it up. However, this does not count for premade linearts or reused bases that are used for registration images – anything that is reused for registration images does not count for kaaring (like backgrounds, bases, linearts, etc) If a registration is newly created for each horse however, it counts for full kaaring value!
Uncolored Art: half of normal value. Minimum of 0.5
- Even on uncolored art, the markings must at least be sketched in.
- The base value of uncolored art will be half of what the normal value would be. Keep reading to determine what the values are for everything!
- This has a restriction of being worth no less than 0.5 KP. For example – an uncolored, partial body sketch of a horse would still be worth 0.5, and half of that value would be 0.25, which is not supported by our kaaring system. So the piece would still be worth 0.5!
- If half of the normal value ends in 0.25, you will round the 0.25 up to 0.5 – i.e 1.25 → 1.5
- If half of the normal value ends in 0.75, you will round the 0.75 up to the next whole number – i.e 1.75 → 2
- The half-value does not count toward the admin-awarded kaaring bonus. See the admin kaaring bonus section for more on this!
Partial Body OR Stick-Figure: 0.5 KP
Full Body: 1 KP
- Partial body is anything that shows 20-50% of the horse.
- Stick-figure horses are allowed, however their base value is only worth 0.5 KP. Other values such as shading, background, dragon tack, show entries, etc will stack on top of this base value – However, if these elements are also in an overly simplified or “stick-figure”-esque style, the image will be counted the same as uncolored art, at half the normal value. Bonus kaaring awarded from the RNG Mini, Drawlloween, etc will not lose its value.
Full Body: 1 KP
- In order to count as a full body, it must be 50% or more of the horse visible. Chibi or realistic styles start with the same base value!
Stackable Bonuses
Stackable bonuses are bonus KP that can be stacked on top of your base values. In fact, most of the rest of these kaaring values are stackable bonuses! (Except for sculptures, plushies, and lineage, as these are counted separately).

Shading
Shading in Nordanner is defined as the shading present on the horse. Shading which is present in the background, objects, etc does not count toward the bonus.

Dragon Tack: 1 KP
Including an Affiliated Breed: 1 KP
Featuring a Queen's General: 1 KP
Featuring a horse's bonded familiar: 1 KP
Images that have been created as a part of EquiBREAK: 1 KP
- Dragon tack is defined by being tack with at least two separate protective elements. These protective elements can be things such as faceplates, armor, chainmail, leather armor, protective blanketing, boots, etc. You can stack the dragon tack bonus on top of both partial and full body images.
Including an Affiliated Breed: 1 KP
- In order to count toward this stackable bonus, breeds must reach out via note to the group and ask to be added to this list! We want to encourage cross-breed membership, community, and affiliation, and would LOVE to speak with you about adding your breed to the list!
- Our current list of breeds which count for the affiliated breed bonus are:
Featuring a Queen's General: 1 KP
- This is a flat bonus, and does not accrue more points for including more than one General.
Featuring a horse's bonded familiar: 1 KP
- This bonus only applies to the horse that has the familiar bonded to it pictured. It does not apply to the entire image/all horses in that image.
Images that have been created as a part of EquiBREAK: 1 KP
Backgrounds
With backgrounds, we are referring to an actual background / scene created by the artist themselves. These may be as complex or as simple as you like, and are split into three tiers based on overall effort.

Monthly Theme: 1 KP
- The Monthly Theme gets its own section here, as it does stack with other types of points, and is an additional extra point on top of other group participation, training images, or show images.
- Simple Animations: 2 KP
- Examples include a simple background movement, eye blink, item blink, or ear flick.
- Medium Animations: 4 KP
- Example: mane/tail moving in combination with an ear flick or blink, or eye blink/ear flick in combination with one leg moving.
- Complex Animations: 10 KP
- Example: Full movement cycles, motion books with extra animations contained within and no repeating animations, 2D rigged puppets, etc. By "repeating animations" we mean animations where more than one horse has been colored in on an animated base, or full movement cycles that have been repeated in an image or motion book for more than one horse. The animations must be unique to each horse.
- For 2D rigged puppets, you will have to create a full movement cycle lasting at least 2 seconds in order to count for points.
- Animations are counted in the group for not just full-blown animated portions of the horse, but also eye blinks, item blinks, bouncing, etc.
- Animations must be newly created each time – If one horse is drawn 3 times on the same canvas, and animated on the same frame rate (all three horses blink at the same time), then the KP bonus is +2 for the whole image.
- Animations are divided into three categories and give points accordingly.
Show Entries, Group Events, OR Training Images
- This category is for all show entries, images that have been entered into a group event or activity, or training images of your horse!
- These points do not stack with each other, but do stack on top of other points! More information: Show Entries, Group Events, and Training images are all separate categories and do not stack with each other. For example: You can't have training and a show entry in one image.
- An image can only be counted for a show once – meaning that one image cannot be entered into more than one show and receive points for it.
- Images which count toward group events are images that are submitted to any group event OR group activity that does not have placings. This would be things like the art-exchange in discord, mini doodle events in the discord (pony-prompts), and other images made for a group event that do not have a placing.
- For training images, you earn the point for any image in which a handler is visible, so long as the image is not entered into a show or group event. We ONLY count images where at least 50% of a rider or handler is visible. We do not accept stick figures or shadow trainers.
- Show entries are images which are entered into a show or group event which has placings. (RNG mini show, other RNG shows, outside effort shows). For show images, you not only receive a bonus for entering the show, but also bonus KP for any placings! You must provide a link back to the show being entered to get the show bonus, and proof of winning to get placing bonuses.
- Nordanner RNG Mini show placings stack slightly differently than other show placings! The number of placings depends on the number of drawn entries, and placing points can go to more than one horse pictured in the image – however the +20 KP bonus for first place only goes to a single horse in the image. This means that if the image places first, all horses pictured get the +3 KP boost for first place, but only one horse pictured will receive the +20 KP bonus. It is required that which horse is receiving the bonus be logged either in the image description or the comments when submitting for the +20 KP bonus.

Literature: 1 KP per 200 words
- Literature is counted as any written story about your Nordanner.
- The Nordanner must be a main character of the story–meaning that it must be a character which is mentioned throughout regularly in order to count for points.
- If more than one Nordanner is included in the story, the amount of kaaring awarded will depend on the overall length and their involvement. The kaaring points awarded is based on the word count for that character's involvement, not the story as a whole.
- To count for literature points, it must be in story or poetry format, describing not just the image itself but also the events taking place and include at least one character POV – which does include your horses.
- The minimum word count in order to count for literature is 200 words.
- Literature stacks with the following bonuses:
- Familiars
- Dragon Tack
- Affiliated Breeds
- Show Entries and Placings
- There is a maximum or cap of 3,000 words per fic. If the document has multiple different fics – the separation between them must be clearly marked with at minimum a title of some sort.

About Lineage Kaaring
- You also gain points with your Nordanner for any ancestor or descendant that reaches one of the levels of Queens Recognition
- Please note: In order to get points for lineage, the horse must be officially registered as that level with the group. You can find their official level by looking at the ID list.
- We also only count horses that appear on the lineage grid and the starter list. This goes for not only a horse’s ancestors, but their descendants as well.
- Additionally, we count only lineage points for each horse’s current level – meaning if the horse was previously registered at Quality Blood, then re-registered at Basic Training, you will lose the Quality Blood lineage points and instead have the Basic Training lineage points!
- You can get a maximum of 100 kaaring points from lineage
