Oh -- you've successfully acquired a geno, whether it be from breeding or purchasing from another member! Wonderful, let's go ahead and get them designed and submitted.
Some Information Before You Start!​
  •  The Nordanner Foal Lines are ONLY for Nordanner foals, and may not be used for adoptables, imports or foals for another breed, or for selling personal designs. 
  • Please DO NOT upload the current version of the foal lines to your personal account -- all designs under the current lineart must be uploaded to Storkdanner, and only the linked uploaded Storkdanner image will be accepted for registration (If the horse is on an older version of the foal lineart, it will still be accepted provided that the design has not been transferred to the new lines).
  • You cannot draw or register your foal until the design has been officially approved!
  • All new foals MUST go through the foal approvals process on Storkdanner. Submissions to the "Foal Designs" or other relevant folders in the gallery will be declined, and you will be instructed to submit to Storkdanner.
  • In order to track your horse's kaaring, your foal's design must be uploaded to Storkdanner! If your foal is on an older version of the lines, that means that their design will have to be recreated on the new lines and go through the Recreations process on Storkdanner. 
  • If you have questions about feedback received during the foals approvals process, NOTE the Storkdanner account.
  • Please DO NOT directly DM admin, or use any provided resources to completely bypass the foal approvals system, as this takes time away from admin tasks, and is unfair to others who are following the process correctly.  
    • Ex: Asking "Will this foal be approved?" or "Will this pass?" and linking your foal design in design-help or help-and-questions and tagging foals admin is considered bypassing the system. You can go ahead and just submit your foal to Storkdanner -- it saves the admin time when reviewing your foal!
  •  Please do not use Storkdanner for import designs, redesigns, or getting your old import uploaded to NordannerDesign -- all import-related matters should go through NordannerDesign, not Storkdanner! 
  • Other people cannot submit your foals for you. You must upload your own foals to stash, and submit them yourself. 
Step One: Designing your Foal

You have two options when designing your foal;
  1. You can commission, trade for, or ask another member of the community to design them for you. 
  2. Design them yourself!
If you have chosen to design your foal yourself, you first need to download the Official Nordanner Foal lines!

Once you have your lines downloaded and opened in your art program, you'll need to take a look at your genotype to figure out which one you're going to design. You are more than welcome to design both, but you should only submit one for approval!

Note: These guides will eventually be moved to the website. Until then, these are the current guides. Any other guides are outdated. 
There are some extra tidbits you should know before you go head first into your design session:
  • Only use the current version of the foal lines - older lines will not be accepted.
  • This file CANNOT be altered. Do not change the size, the background, add an additional side, change or "fix" the lineart. The only thing you should be adding is the design!
    • The original file size is: 2500x1818
  • While some color altering of the lines is allowed--please make sure that they are still clearly visible.
  • Your finished file should be saved as a PNG.
  • Do NOT shade or highlight your foal design! It can distort the colors and may make your foal look too dark or light when your real base color is acceptable.
  • Do NOT add dyes, contacts, scars etc. to a foal design! It should be your foal in the most basic form without any extras.
  • Do NOT use old foal designs or old imports as references! Old designs can give you an idea of color or markings before a current rule was in place.
  • When using real horses as references, please keep in mind that Nordanner does NOT always follow real colors. The Design Guides will be your best reference for how different genes work in Nordanner. 
  • Remember: if you were lucky enough to roll somatic or chimera, please remember to write down what they are in the artist's description!         
    • Somatic: which gene did you turn on or off?
    • Chimera: What is the phenotype? Remember, it must be genetically possible from the parents.

Once you have all of that down, go ahead and take a look at the Design Guides linked above and begin designing. Have fun and be creative!
Step Two: Getting your design ready for submission

Now that you are all done designing, time to ger your foal submitted and checked for approval!
Please submit your foal design to Sta.sh, using the foal's ID number as the title.

Helpful Notes and Reminders for Stash Descriptions
  • You need a LINK to the breeding note, screenshots are not allowed. 
    • Any bank items that were used on your foal should have been applied during the breeding, and may not be added after unless you reroll the breeding!
  • Copy and paste genotype and phenotype exactly as it was given to you, do not add any slashes, edit the genotype, or put anything in the genotype that alters the way it was given to you in the breeding -- our genotypes are formatted in order to work with our roller, which requires exact letter order and case. 
  • Please use ONLY the ID number as the title-- Do not include the horse's name, "Nordanner Foal", "design holder", etc. This makes it easier on the foals team when uploading, as designs are sorted on the Storkdanner account by ID, and we only include the ID in the title. 
Reminders for Foal Submissions
  • Please refer to the Foal Design Approval journals for the current number of foals allowed to go through the process at one time!
    • The number of foals is counted as any foal that is submitted under any of the foals threads (New Foals, Corrections, Redesigns or Recreations) that have not had an admin response yet! 
      • Corrections DO count toward this total, as stated above.
    • If we rollover to a new month and you have foals still pending from the previous month, you cannot submit more until the existing foals are processed. 
    • Once an admin responds to your pending foals, you may submit more. 
    • Breedings submitted to the breedings thread do not count toward your total number of foals -- breedings are handled by different members of the admin team, and have their own limits listed on the journal!
  • Please DO NOT delete, alter, or upload the stash file until after the foal has been uploaded by Storkdanner!
  • All designs that are being sent in for approval should be in your stash, not your main account.   
  • The entire form needs to be filled out CORRECTLY and in the order they appear in order for admin review to go smoothly. You will want to make sure you are filling it out correctly so your submission doesn't get declined! 
    • We recommend checking out the dropdown menu above, and other foal submissions in the thread if you are unsure whether or not you've filled out the form correctly!   
Step three: Submitting your design

Now that your file is ready it's time to head over to Storkdanner where you can find the current Foal Design Approval Journals.
 Submit your foal into the design queue by linking ONLY your stash link in the comment thread.
  • Please make sure you leave a link, and not a thumbnail, as links are neater and take up less space, making it easier for foal design admin to scroll and see where we last left off in the log!
  • Please make sure the form for your foal is filled out correctly, with no extra information in the image description other than what is asked for by the form!
    • You may leave any additional information in the comments. 
  •  Please submit only one foal per submission comment--our current system is set up to handle each foal individually--and things get muddled when there is more than one foal linked in a comment!
An admin will then review your design, and let you know if it has been approved, or if we need some edits to be made.
  • If you need corrections, move on to Step Four.
  • If your design has been approved, once your design is uploaded by Storkdanner, you are ready to move on to Registration.
Step four: Corrections

Got something to fix? No problem, happens to the best of us!
  • If you need to make corrections, please DO NOT delete your foal design, or upload a new image. Instead, change the image on the stash file. 
  • Once your corrected foal design has been updated in stash, you can leave a link to it on that month's corrections thread.​

If you disagree with the corrections we are asking you to make, please let us know in a respectful way in a note to the Storkdanner account.
We are only human and we don't know everything - if it is realistically possible with the rules outlined in the Design Guides, let us know. If you want to ask questions or defend your design, go for it! We are willing to work with you, but please be nice to our admin, and be aware that Nordanners do not follow natural genetic rules -- so even though something is possible in real life, it may not be possible in Nordanner without specific genes or items.
