1.1.9 Dragons: Dramander

Dramander

Draconis dramandii
Picture
Typical Adult Dramander 10-19 in | 30-50 cm at the top of shoulder. Lifespan: 5-10 years.

About:

Dramanders, affectionately referred to as nuisance dragons--are very small, and while they can glide, they cannot fly. Often brightly coloured, with various darker patterns overtop--they range in a variety of colors and patterns. These dragons pose no real threat, but they are incredibly annoying, making noise, dropping objects, and stalking horses and riders in packs numbering ten at the minimum. They don’t possess any magic, gemstones, or arcane shards, and as such are rarely the focus of a hunt. They lay soft shelled, white eggs in clutches of 3-10, and mature quickly--reaching adulthood at only a year old. While still adolescents, they are raised by their pack, and will remain with the pack when mature. Unlike other dragons, they don’t seem to be territorial, since multiple packs may share the same area.
Dramanders, as previously mentioned, don’t seem to possess any magical abilities, nor are they particularly interested in attacking, even to defend young--preferring to just be an overall nuisance. They can be offended however, and will flare their frills and make a chattering or hissing noise before scurrying away if that happens. They live on a diet of insects, small animals--such as frogs, mice, voles, etc--and scavenged food from traveler’s packs. The only difference noted between males and females of the species are the colors they present--males tend to be more vibrant, females slightly duller in color.

Hunting Recommendations:

As Dramanders are cool blooded, the use of Icefinger can deter them from bothering your horse--due to the cold air surrounding it.
Toxicate can also be useful, as it can cause nausea if the dragon comes too close
If Nuisance dragons appear when hunting a different species, it is often best to ignore them, or offer food so that they leave your horses alone.
These dragons are not particularly dangerous, but they can be very annoying--as the whole pack tends to bother together.
Habitat & Diet:

Commonly seen throughout the Isles of Invermay, often nest in trees. Live in groups of 30, or more. Will often nest surrounding other dragons, or steal the abandoned nests of other dragons. While they prefer trees, they can be seen anywhere in Invermay--wherever they can fit, hide, or perch they can be found.
Breeding season: Yearly, during the spring.
