1.1.3 Dragons: Demophon

Demophon

Draconis abyssus
Picture
Typical Adult Demophon 150 ft | 45 m approximate mature length. Lifespan: Unknown.

About:

Little is known about the Demophon dragons. Their breeding season, how they are born, how they raise their young, and their lifespan have no real theories.

The few sightings that have been recorded consist only of adult Demophons, and based on these accounts and drawings, it can be deduced that they are large, slow, but nonetheless the apex predator in the water. It was mentioned in these accounts that Demophons also possess some sort of water based neurotoxin, which paralyzes their prey, which is ideal for such a colossal and slow-moving creature. The diet of the Demophon itself can only be theorized to be aquatic or such unlucky creatures to venture into their vicinity, perhaps even other dragons.

No Demophons have ever been killed in hunts, so not much more is known about their attributes.

Hunting Recommendations:
  • Oceanpearl is necessary to reach the depths in which they dwell.
  • Toxicate is needed to avoid the neurotoxin that this species produces.
  • There has never been a recorded death of a Demophon. It is important to acknowledge that the goal of these hunts is to retrieve something, not to slay the dragon.
  • Stealth is best, this creature is large and their movements predictable. If you are smart with your actions, it is possible to avoid a fight entirely.

Habitat & Diet:
The only sightings of Demophons have been in the deep seas, off the cost of Aleria and Korandyre. However, this does not mean that they don't live in other areas.

This species lives in the deepest parts of the ocean, Presumably in underwater caves or trenches. Demophons have never been sighted in shallow waters, either alive or deceased.

It is generally assumed that their diet consists of large species of fish, other dragons, and perhaps other Demophons due to their size. Their esca on their head may be used as a lure to bring prey closer, though no one has been brave enough to find out.
